#2077 Integrating Power Monitoring Data into SCADA Delivered on: 05/23/12 IEPA#5087

RTC Hour: 1.00 Total Hours: 1.00
Presented By: Michael Watkins, CDM Smith

Over the years, the implementation of extensive power monitoring systems have become standard practice on plant facilities. These systems offer the ability to monitor energy usage for large equipment and hundreds of additional signals for maintenance, troubleshooting, and management of plant operations. With the expansion of the power monitoring systems installed, the need arises for tighter integration into a plant-wide process control system (SCADA) to achieve maximum benefits associated with the power data available. CDM has integrated the data from power monitoring systems with SCADA systems at several facilities. In addition to providing monitoring capability via the Human Machine Interface (HMI), the ability to create advanced calculations for monitoring equipment efficiency and energy usage are available. This presentation will cover methods for integrating power monitoring data into a SCADA system and provide examples from CDM projects on how power monitoring data has been utilized by clients.
