Summary:US EPA's Climate Ready Water Utilities (CRWU) initiative assists the water sector, which includes drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities, in addressing climate change impacts. Through the development of practical and easy-to-use tools, US EPA promotes a clear understanding of climate science and adaptation options by translating complex climate projections into accessible formats. This information helps utility owners and operators better prepare their systems for the impacts of climate change. This webinar will serve as an introduction to climate change and adaptation planning, with a specific focus on the Midwest region. Different adaptation planning scenarios will be highlighted, along with the tools and resources being used by the water sector to manage those impacts.
Presenter: Curt Baranowski - Curt Baranowski is a graduate of Rutgers University, he has been with the U.S. EPA’s Office of Water since 1998.
Curt leads EPA's Climate Ready Water Utilities initiative, which provides resources for drinking water and wastewater utilities to address to climate change by promoting a clear understanding of climate science and adaptation options. Before working on climate-related water issues, Curt managed Agency programs that provided technical assistance and training to small community wastewater utilities.
Prior to joining EPA, Curt worked in the water and air programs of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
