Most of the harmful algae blooms in surface water throughout the world are due to cyanobacteria which include species that can produce toxins that are broadly called cyanotoxins. In 2015, the U.S. EPAissued a health advisory in drinking water for two of the more common hepatotoxins, mcrocystins and cylindrospermopsin.Children are at greater risk because of their smaller bodymass. The webinar is intended to provide approaches and examples forsource water monitoring, risk assessment,response protocols and management options for harmful algae blooms and associated cyanotoxins.Botha historicalbackground and an overview of rapid test methods will be presented along withthe importance of sample collection, preparation, treatment, storage and transporation.

Dave is a senior marketing and sales executive with extensive experience in the food safety, water, wastewater, remediation, medical and security markets. His 40 year employment history includes positions as President, CEO and VP with such entities as the Rohm and Haas Company (now Dow Company), ICN Biomedicals, Strategic Diagnostics, Inc. (now Modern Water), and Abraxis, LLC
Dave is particularly adept in successfully leading multi-functional areas - from customer services and sales to marketing. He does this by providing the kind of strategic vision and meticulous management direction that consistently leads to exceptional individual and team performance.
Dave identified and evaluated the neonatal hypothyroid screening market, provided product definitions, developed and implemented the marketing plan for products and services that are used in 39 state public health department programs for inborn genetic disorders. On the heels of that success, Dave identified means to improve milk production with a rapid bovine pregnancy test. He credits his good fortune to his early mentors who recognized his ability to be a visionary contributor in the fast paced biotechnology industry.
Dave is a graduate of Bucknell University and received his MBA from the Wharton School. Currently he is serving as Vice-President, Marketing and Sales for Abraxis LLC. He holds a professional engineers license and is certified in homeland security. Dave is a retired Colonel in the Army of the United States.
