The presentation will give operators and others a better understanding of the key components of a typical municipal ion exchange system. We will discuss resins and the classifications of resins in terms of anion and cation. We will discuss resin selectivity, resin capacity, the relationship between resin capacity and frequency of regeneration, regenerations of anion and cation resins, as well as brine feed systems and by-pass and blending systems. Following operation aspects of the ion exchange system we will discuss system maintenance, resin failures and resin replacement frequency.
